Review consultation –$ 50- $60 (Medicare rebate $40.65)

Patients with a Pension or Health care card may be charged the Medicare rebate only.

An online Medicare claiming system is available. Please note, Private Health Insurance companies do not cover costs for consultations in rooms.

Surgeon's Private Hospital Gap Cover

A 'gap' is the amount you pay either for medical or hospital charges, over and above what you get back from Medicare or your private health insurer when you are an inpatient in a private hospital.

Surgeons have gap cover agreements with the majority of health funds.

This means you should not have to pay any out of pocket expenses to your surgeon for your care in a private hospital.

If you are unsure please check with your health fund that they have a gap cover agreement with your surgeon.
